The two-course instructional design sequence is being
offered in summer 2010.
IT 570 Instructional Systems Design (3 hrs, 1st summer,
June 3 – July 7) & IT 578 Instructional Development (3 hrs, 2nd
summer, July 8 – August 10)
…will be offered consecutively in a format that
enables participants to engage in authentic course design and development for a
local Knoxville business. The two courses present the essentials of
instructional design and development, and prepare individuals to produce
instruction for a variety of career environments.
When? Tuesday & Thursday evenings, 6:00pm-9:25pm
Format: The courses will meet both face-to-face and
online. Students will be grouped in teams to tackle the course materials, and
design and develop instruction for a large Knoxville business.
Scope: In IT 570, students will interview client Subject
Matter Experts (SMEs), work together to produce a design document, and present
their design to the client. For IT 578, the client will select one of the
designs produced in IT 570, and course participants will team up to produce a
prototype of that instruction to present to the client.
Instructor: Both courses will be taught by Dr. Miriam
Larson
Interested? Dr. Larson is currently negotiating the scope
of the design project with the client. If you are considering one or both of
these summer courses, please contact Dr. Larson to express your interest.
Knowing how many intend to enroll will help Dr. Larson
determine the appropriate size project for the courses.
