The workshop will cover the most widely accepted approaches, methods and
tools for designing, implementing and sustaining a knowledge management
function in a library or organization. The course will cover the following
key topics: Introduction to KM, appropriate situations for KM-when to employ
it, building knowledge assets, capturing expertise, sources of expertise,
creating a model, implementation techniques and tools, creating strategies
for success, establishing ongoing metrics to monitor value to the
organization. Additionally, the course will cover social tools for knowledge
sharing and informal learning, and the strategic and effective uses of web
2.0 tools and applications is increasingly valuable role for information
professionals.

The course materials, case studies and resource materials will be applicable
to most private, public sectors or academic environments.
