Join us for the March 31 CoP lunch
At the February Instructional Technology Community of Practice (CoP)  
Brown Bag Lunch, participants shared examples of multimedia-based  
learning objects and discussed development approaches and use with  
students. Please bring your lunch and join OIT Faculty Fellows Terri  
Combs-Orme and Trena Paulus on Wednesday, March 31 from 12:15pm -  
1:15pm in Hoskins 191 for the next lively discussion.

EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) Online
Spring Focus Session on Mobile Learning
On March 3 & 4 from noon to 5:30pm each day, the University Libraries  
will be hosting Mobile Learning 2.0: The Next Phase of Innovation in  
Mobility. Join colleagues in Hodges Library room 213 to view online  
presentations, ask questions of presenters, and discuss issues in  
mobile learning with UT participants.

Sessions include:

Discussions on Modern Teaching
and Learning Practices
Dr. Robin Wright from the Department of Genetics, Cell Biology and  
Development at the University of Minnesota will be on campus on March  
17 to lead a series of discussions on using scientific teaching  
practices to improve student learning in college science classrooms.

Events include:
A Workshop on Scientific Teaching from 9:30am - noon. New  
understandings of how students learn can help us be more effective  
educators. Participants will put these principles into action as they  
create new activities and assessments they can use in their own  
classes. The workshop location is to be determined. RSVP to Raina Akin

A Seminar on Lecture-free Biology from 2:30pm - 3:20pm. Dr. Wright  
will share her experiences teaching a large introductory Biology  
college course that features student discussion as the primary  
teaching tool. The seminar will be held in Room 32 of the Alumni  
Memorial Building. All invited! No RSVP necessary.
Dr. Wright's visit is sponsored by the Division of Biology, the  
College of Arts and Sciences, and the Tennessee Teaching and Learning

More Technology Training for You & Your Students
We have a variety of workshops scheduled in March. Many classes are  
offered in 3-4 session sequences to allow for more in-depth exposure  
to a particular tool. If time is limited, check out the Quick Classes.

Our training covers:
Productivity tools such as Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Creative design with Flash and Photoshop
Website design using HTML, Dreamweaver, and JavaScript
Research tools such as Image J, as well as a session on formatting  
Electronic Thesis and Dissertations
Introductory SharePoint and sessions for SharePoint Team Site  
administrators
