OSHA 10-Hour Training Exclusively for the Roadway Construction Industry
 
What This is About: This 2-day training program developed by American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and the National Safety Council focuses on the hazards and situations that roadway construction workers face every day.  This workshop addresses 12 key construction work zone related safety and health topics: Introduction to OSHA; Electrical Safety; Roadway Work Zones;
Excavations and Trenching; Personal Protective Equipment; Confined Spaces; Night Work; Fall Prevention & Protection; Mechanized Equipment;
Occupational Health; Collisions; and Management Commitment. This training meets OSHA’s requirements for 10-hour accreditation.

Registration: There is a handling/administrative fee of $25 for this ARTBA grant-sponsored workshop. Space is limited - enrollment will be limited to no more than three participants per organization. All attendees must pre-register for this workshop. Seats will be granted on a first-comefirst-served basis. Lunch/breaks will be provided. Please let us know of any special dietary needs. A course may be canceled if there is low enrollment. Forty-eight hours notice will be given to registrants if a course is canceled. Register early to participate in this special training opportunity

2009 MUTCD: On December December 16, 2009 a final rule adopting the 2009 Edition of the MUTCD was published in the Federal Register.  The effective date for this Final Rule is January 15, 2010.  The State of Tennessee has until January 15, 2012 to adopt the new MUTCD.  Visit the Federal Highway Administration's MUTCD website to view the complete manual.  Printed copies will be available for purchase from ATSSA, ITE, and AASHTO.  TTAP will offer training on the 2009 MUTCD later this year.
 
Traffic Sign Retroreflectivity: TTAP has many copies of FHWA's new Sign Retroreflectivity Guidebook available for distribution.  This guidebook offers discussion of the 2008 traffic sign retroreflectivity standards and steps that agencies can take to become compliant with these rules.  The book also includes a CD-ROM with a electronic copies of a number of reference and research reports on this topic.  To request copies of this publication for your agency, contact TTAP at [log in to unmask] or 1-800-252-7623.
