UT Gardens to Host
Conifers Symposium
Calling all gardeners!
On Saturday, February 27, the UT Gardens will host a one-day symposium that will teach gardeners of all skill levels how to grow and use conifers in the Midsouth.
The day will include educational seminars by horticulture experts Jason Reeves, Andy Pulte, Flo Chaffin and Hugh Colon. In addition, attendees will be treated to a guided walk through the UT Gardens conifer collection and an exclusive conifer plant sale of the most beautiful and choice selections.
The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. beginning at the University of Tennessee Visitor Center. The cost is only $40 for UT Gardens and American Conifer Society Members and $45 for non-members and includes lunch.
"Our conifer collection has over 400 specimens and many are the latest and most cutting-edge cultivars," explained Sue Hamilton, Director of the UT Gardens. "In addition, I think our exclusive conifer sale warrants reason enough to attend this special symposium."

The University of Tennessee Gardens located in Knoxville and Jackson are part of the UT Institute of Agriculture. Their mission is to foster appreciation, education and stewardship of plants through garden displays, collections, educational programs and research trials. Some 4,000 annuals, perennials, herbs, tropicals, trees, shrubs, vegetables and ornamental grasses are evaluated each year. Both gardens are Tennessee Certified Arboreta and American Conifer Society Reference Gardens. The gardens are open during all seasons and free to the public.
