Abstract
Energy and the environment are two major policy areas of the
current federal administration. For most of us, our knowledge of the
legislative process ends at knowing the words to Schoolhouse Rock's "I'm
Just a Bill." Behind the scenes, policymaking is a very sophisticated
process of synthesizing information gathering, community connections, party
politics, and federal objectives. From the perspective of a Congressional
staffer, Mary Frances Repko discusses how Capitol Hill priorities and processes
in energy, environment, and other key areas are likely to affect policymaking
and opportunities for citizens.
