A very special event is planned for the Library and Information Science community. Camila Alire, American Library Association president and Dean Emerita, University of New Mexico and Colorado State University, is scheduled to speak at the California Gold: The Sacramento Valley Chapter of REFORMA, co-sponsored by the Drexel University Center for Graduate Studies. Her topic for the evening is Frontline Advocacy. 

This talk will be held at the Center, One Capitol Mall, Sacramento in Room 2, Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 6 - 7 p.m., with an informal reception from 5:30 - 6 p.m. and a brief REFORMA chapter business meeting from 7 - 7:30 p.m. 

REFORMA is the National Association to Promote Library & Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking Community, and is an affiliate of the American Library Association. REFORMA promotes the development of library collections to include Spanish-language and Latino oriented materials, the recruitment of more bilingual and bicultural library professionals and support staff, the development of library services and programs that meet the needs of the Latino community, and many other related activities.

Founded in 1892, The iSchool at Drexel educates students in information science and technology at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels and features Drexel University's Cooperative Education program.
