Help farmers market their products. Develop alternatives to wood as a
fuel source. Start a recycling program. Promote environmentally friendly
farming practices. Peace Corps agriculture and environment Volunteers do
all of this, and much more!

If you have experience in gardening, landscaping or environmental
education or a degree in agriculture, environmental science, forestry,
or agribusiness, we want to talk to you. Click here

Southern Appalachian Forest Coalition Presentation

Brown Bag it 12-1. 


Jeff Hunter, coordinates the Tennessee Wild project for the Southern
Appalachian Forest Coalition.  Tennessee Wild is dedicated to protecting
wilderness on the Cherokee National Forest for the benefit and enjoyment
of current and future generations.  Hunter, a naturalist, avid fisherman
and backpacker will be speaking at a brown bag lunch at Pendergrass
Agriculture & Veterinary Medicine Library on Thursday February 25.

 The presentation will focus on Tennessee Wild's effort to protect more
than 20,000 acres of the Cherokee National Forest as wilderness.  This
includes expansions of the Joyce Kilmer, Slickrock Wilderness and the
establishment of the brand-new nearly 10,000-acre Upper Bald River
Wilderness.  In addition, Hunter will discuss recreational opportunities
on the forest.  A question and answer period will follow.
