If I recall correctly, at the last student orgs meeting we never settled on a date. It was something that we left to figure out once we got back from the holidays. I would also consider the Allard Farm option. It will mean no parking troubles and no concerns about renting a venue; however, I believe Allard expects that it'd be the day of comps as well, so that would limit a date if others were wanting to choose a different day.  Just my two cents.

Thank you Jessica, Rebecca, and Jennifer!

I really appreciate that some new folks have stepped up to coordinate this!

When I was talking with Dr. Allard a few weeks ago, she said she had offered her farm for the day of comps (March 26).  She said that the picnic was held there after comps a few years ago, that attendance was good, and it worked out really well, especially since the DE students in town for comps got to mingle with their on-campus colleagues.

At the last student orgs meeting, we discussed possible spring picnic dates but I don't remember what the consensus was from that discussion.  If Dr. Allard's offering, I'd think that'd simplify logistics a bit since she's held it there before.  We wouldn't have to fuss with renting a venue.  It's something to consider.

I guess no one else is jumping at the opportunity.  Personally, I've never coordinated something like this before, but if someone is willing to help me figure it out, I'll do it.  So, I guess the next question is, who wants to help me? :D

I think this would be a great opportunity for a first year student to spread their wings. ;)

Greetings fellow officers,

I still haven't heard any responses about the Spring Picnic.  Do we have a couple of people interested in establishing a date, choosing a venue, and coordinating the picnic?

Let me know your thoughts,

        Greetings everyone,

I hope everyone had a wonderful break and a great holiday.  Now that we're back to school, I thought I would put feelers out for those interested in spearheading the planning of the Spring Picnic, just like we discussed at our last student organizations meeting.  We'll need the student body to coordinate settling on a date, a venue, and putting out the word.

Let me know who is interested in planning it.  I would suggest some first-years who would like to take the reigns, especially since many of the second-years will be worried about upcoming comprehensive exams.

        Cheers,
