--- Join the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) at 7 p.m. tomorrow in COM 314  and learn how to overcome networking jitters in everyday situations. "Surviving in the Networking World" will simulate five real life situations, and a team of professionals will help guide you through the steps to successfully network at a bar, football game, wedding reception, restaurant and professional luncheon. Free food will be provided.

--- Baker Center film, lecture and discussion series about water policy: The Baker Center will hold four events in January and February to highlight national and regional water issues. A free showing of the film "Blue Gold: World Water Wars" will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, in the Baker Center's Toyota Auditorium. Acknowledging that past civilizations have collapsed from poor water management, the film suggests that, as water enters the global marketplace and political arena, it is feasible that wars of the future will be fought over water as they are over oil today. Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

--- The Parents Association will host an online chat for parents and students with the UT Programs Abroad Office to provide information about opportunities to study abroad. Get Involved

--- Do you want to become more active at UT and meet great people while doing it? Then join UT's national co-ed community service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega. --- The Office of Student Orientation & Leadership Development is offering young women at UT an exciting way to develop their leadership skills through the Women's Mentoring Network. This program offers a structured set of activities designed to develop mentoring relationships between female students and faculty and staff. Participants will be paired with a female faculty or staff member for positive guidance and mentorship. The program will include a kick-off reception on Feb. 10, workshops, and recognition for program participants. Space is limited, so register early! All of the Women's Leadership Programs are free for students.

Important Deadlines

--- The Tennessee Apprentice Program is back for its second year and the application deadline is Friday, Jan. 29. This innovative program from the Office of Alumni Affairs is perfect for the UT student who is looking to meet successful UT alumni while gaining further insight into a particular career field. --- It's time for students to begin applying for the Parents Association International Scholarship. This scholarship is open to students whose parents belong to the UT Parents Association. It provides financial assistance to study, intern or volunteer abroad. The application period for these scholarships is Feb. 1 to Feb. 25. Students must 1)complete and submit their online application and 2)submit a transcript/academic history to the Parents Association Office at 412 Student Services Building no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25. Students can visit http://parents.utk.edu for more information and to access the online application. Additional scholarship applications from the Parents Association will be available in April.

Ready for the World Events

--- Come to the Study Abroad Fair, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, in the UC Ballroom and get Ready for the World! Learn how to get started with the study abroad process and explore your options for study abroad programs. Find out about semester, academic year, summer, and mini-term programs. Explore summer internships options. Meet students who have studied abroad and international students from around the world. Speak with UT Knoxville faculty leading summer and mini-term programs abroad. Get information on scholarships, financial aid, and talk to representatives from advising centers about studying abroad.

--- Lady Vol swim meet against Florida, 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29. Vol swim meet against Florida, noon Saturday, Jan. 30. The first 50 fans who attend either meet will receive a free UT Swimming and Diving t-shirt. The first 50 students who attend either meet will get free pizza.
