Tenure Track Faculty Member - Multidisciplinary Program in Public
History and Museum and Archival Studies (PHMAS)

 

St. John's University seeks an accomplished fulltime faculty member with
significant experience across a number of fields to exercise leadership
in a new interdisciplinary initiative in Public History and Museum and
Archival Studies (PHMAS). This person will be responsible for overseeing
a concentration in Archival Studies in an ALA accredited MLS program,
directing a Master of Arts program in Public History, and providing
support where possible for a Master of Arts program in Museum Studies.

The University: 

St. John's University is located in New York City, site of one of the
most important concentrations of archives and museums in the world. It
enrolls over 20,000 students, hailing from 44 states, the District of
Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands and 122 foreign
countries. 

The Position: 

The position is designed as a joint appointment depending upon
qualifications in any or all of the participating departments of Library
and Information Science, History, and Fine Arts, which form part of St.
John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. In addition to teaching,
research and coordinating the learning experiences, the successful
candidate will be responsible for student recruitment and serve as the
lead faculty member of the MLS-Archives Concentration and MA in Public
History programs.  

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate must possess:

*	An earned doctorate in archival studies, library and information
science, history, museum studies, or a related field; 
*	Record or potential for distinguished graduate teaching and
service directly related to archival studies; and
*	Experience as an archivist, public historian, and/or museum
administrator.
