What is LAMP?
LIS Access Midwest Program (LAMP) is a regional alliance of academic
libraries and graduate library and information science (LIS) schools in the
Midwest dedicated to increase awareness of the field of librarianship and
diversity in the profession. LAMP offers promising students in their
junior/senior year, a number of opportunities to increase their knowledge,
skills and understanding of the LIS field. This is an opportunity for
interested students to discover, learn and engage in issues related to LIS
and a career in librarianship. We encourage students from historically and
statistically underrepresented groups to apply.

LAMP Scholars can benefit from the multi-faceted network and student based
approach of the program. This approach includes four major components:
Summer institutes: to introduce students to the field of LIS and give
incoming scholars the opportunity to explore options in librarianship.
Summer internships: to help students gain knowledge and new experiences as
they work closely with professionals in the field.
Mentoring: to offer guidance and support through the various stages of the
program
Financial support: to support graduate studies in LIS when scholars are
admitted to one of the schools in the alliance
Members of the Regional Alliance:

Dominican University
Marquette University
Michigan State University
University of Chicago
University of Illinois, Chicago
University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
