*Two Library Science Generalist - Tenure Track Positions Fall 2010 * Clarion University of Pennsylvania College of Education and Human Services Department of Library Science www.clarion.edu/libsci The Department of Library Science at Clarion University of Pennsylvania invites applications for two tenure-track positions beginning August 2010. The successful applicants will be expected to teach in the department's ALA-accredited graduate program, which is offered on campus and at distance sites via a combination of on-site teaching and the World Wide Web. The department offers a fully Web-based MSLS, with new students starting each January and August and has a growing undergraduate program offered both on campus and via the World Wide Web. The successful applicants will be expected to teach in each of the above programs and formats. Further, the successful candidates will be expected to teach in at least one of the core areas of the curriculum (i.e., introduction to the profession, cataloging and classification, collection development, reference, management of libraries, research) and one or more of the elective areas offered by the department (see department Web page [ www.clarion.edu/libsci] for full listing of elective courses). Minimum qualifications include an ALA-accredited MLS plus an earned doctorate in library science or other appropriate academic discipline, e.g., education, history, etc. A valid driver's license and willingness to undertake extensive teaching-related travel are also required. The completion of a successful interview is required. Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification and criminal background check. Successful completion of an online training course is a condition of employment.
