UT Knoxville Researchers Learn More About How Bacteria 'Think'

It's not thinking in the way humans, dogs or even birds think, but new findings from UT Knoxville researchers show that bacteria are more capable of complex decision-making than previously known. The discovery sets a landmark in research to understand the way bacteria are able to respond and adapt to changes in their environment.

David Northington, professor of piano in the School of Music, will be performing with the Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the Bijou Theatre. Centripetals Lecture to Focus on Obama's First Year

University Studies' Centripetals lecture series kicks off the spring with political science professor Anthony Nownes discussing President Barack Obama's first year in office. The luncheon lecture, "Barack Obama's First Year: An Assessment," will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 28, in the Executive Dining Room on the third floor of the University Center.
