Message : On Wednesday, September 1st 2010 at 10:00pm OIT Network Services will be performing maintenance on the campus VPN (access.utk.edu).   VPN service via web-portal, Secure Access Manager, and the Network Connect client will be unavailable for a period of approximately 2 hours.  This outage is being taken to upgrade software on the devices to provide additional client OS support, protocol support, and application support.  Highlights of the new features supported are:  

•             Support for Apple OS X 10.6.x; additionally, earlier versions of OS X with Java update 2 or later are supported. 
•             Support for Remote Desktop Protocol version 7 via the web-portal. 
•             Support for Microsoft Outlook Web Access 2010 and SharePoint 2010 
•             IKEv2 support for mobile devices.  

Users should expect to be challenged to upgrade client software after the upgrade.   This will be a generally automatic process for users who possess sufficient local privileges.    Users of systems managed though AD who do not possess local-admin privilege will need to contact their computer administrator.   Administrators needing updated client software are asked to contact the OIT Helpdesk at 974-9900 and submit a service request.
