Category : Systems and Applications Level : yellow Message : OIT will be upgrading our existing SharePoint 2007 system to SharePoint 2010 starting Friday, July 16th at 6:00 PM. During the migration process, all SharePoint sites will be unavailable while the content is converted to the new system. These sites should be available by Monday morning. SharePoint 2010 has several additional features and will integrate more smoothly with Microsoft Office 2010. All personal and departmental sites hosted on the sites utworks.tennessee.edu and utspaces.tennessee.edu will be migrated to the new SharePoint 2010 system. These sites will maintain their current management interface after the migration. Site administrators can choose to upgrade this interface to the new SharePoint 2010 look and feel at their convenience. Once this change has been made, it is permanent and cannot be reversed; however site owners can preview the change before you commit to the new interface. All new sites created after the migration will have the SharePoint 2010 interface. In order to take advantage of all the new features, site owners will need to upgrade their management interface to the 2010 look and feel. Once the migration is complete, you will be able to access your old SharePoint 2007 site for 2 weeks under these new names, utworks07.tennessee.edu and utspaces07.tennessee.edu. The content on the old system will be readable and downloadable but you will not be able to change or upload content to the old site. The SharePoint 2007 system will be decommissioned on August 1st, 2010 and will no longer be accessible.
