Date listed: October 20, 2009 Title: Reference Librarian Library: Caldwell County Public Library City: Lenoir, North Carolina 28645 Salary: $34,236 plus a competitive benefits package Qualifications: Applicants must have a Masters degree in Library Science from a school accredited by the American Library Association or a regionally accredited school of higher education and be capable of acquiring North Carolina Public Librarian certification within a reasonable time frame. Knowledge of print and digital reference sources, research methods, and reader's advisory required. Experience with technology in a library setting is desirable. At least one year of experience in a public library setting desirable. Must be able to meet the physical performance requirements for this position. Must have and maintain a valid N.C. Driver's license within 30 days of hire. Brief description of duties: Primary duties include collection development for Reference and Local History materials, readers advisory, reference assistance, and technology troubleshooting. Supervision of two full-time Library Assistants, part-time employees, and volunteers. Providing adult programs, including technology classes, as well as a strong background and interest in technology is preferred. This position is required to work two evenings and one Saturday per month.
