Luverne Public Library
The
Board of Trustees for the Luverne Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic,
energetic library director. Luverne, Alabama, the county seat of
Crenshaw, is 50 miles south of Montgomery and serves a culturally diverse
population. The Luverne Public Library has a legal service area of 10,191
and this year demonstrated a large growth in circulation (22%) and an even
bigger increase in library visits (44%).
Qualified
candidates will have a BA or BS degree and some library experience.
Candidates with a MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA accredited school will be given
preference. Consideration will be given to those with any combination of
education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge,
skills, and abilities to perform the required job functions. Salary range is
$30,000 - $40,000 depending upon experience and qualifications. Medical and
retirement benefits are also available.
The
successful candidate must recognize the importance of this library within the
community and be responsible for providing materials, services and programming
to library patrons as well providing ways to attract new patrons. The
successful candidate must aggressively seek grants and plan fundraising
opportunities and be willing to embrace new technology. Excellent written
and oral communication skills are required.
