The University of Texas Libraries seeks an enthusiastic and creative
information professional to become the Digital Assets, Instruction, and
Outreach Librarian.  The successful candidate is responsible for
instruction, outreach and managing digital assets for the Fine Arts
Library.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively to build
strong faculty relationships with the College of Fine Arts and across
campus in regards to digital asset management and services, organize and
strengthen the Fine Arts Library instruction program, and build a lively
and diverse outreach program.  The successful candidate will facilitate
patrons' image discovery and use by providing general reference,
instruction, and orientation to digital asset resources, tools, and
technologies including DASe and ARTstor.  The successful candidate will
work closely with catalogers, database managers, and reformatting
technicians.  The successful candidate will develop and run the
instruction program, coordinating course integrated library instruction
sessions, related tours, and staff training on new resources and
technology.  The successful candidate will coordinate external
communications for the Fine Arts Library, including publications,
publicity, and participate in exhibit and event development and serves
as liaison to the University of Texas Community and to the wider Austin
community.  The successful candidate will be highly motivated,
innovative, and proactive.  The position reports to the Head Librarian,
Fine Arts Library, The University of Texas Libraries.  


The Fine Arts Library is located in the Doty Fine Arts Building in the
heart of the College of Fine Arts.  Collections and services support the
research and teaching of the College of Fine Arts which includes art,
music, theatre and dance and audiovisual services for the entire campus
community.  Fine Arts Library digital assets include an image
collection, an audio archive, and other discrete collections.


Required Qualifications:  MLS from an ALA accredited graduate program.
Experience working in a Fine Arts Library or Visual Resources
Collection.  Experience providing public service in an academic setting.
Academic degree or significant coursework in the arts or a related
field. Demonstrated knowledge of arts information and the needs of art
students and faculty. Experience in instruction and in using technology
to deliver information services. Experience organizing and describing
information. Demonstrated ability to make effective use of communication
technologies.  Demonstrated ability to interact and network effectively
with diverse internal and external clientele. Demonstrated ability to
work independently as well as collaboratively in a complex, changing
environment. Eligible to work in the United States.  

Preferred Qualifications:  Knowledge of and familiarity with digital
assets in the fields of the fine arts.  Experience managing projects.
An advanced degree in an applicable subject area.  Experience
supervising staff.   Demonstrated potential for leadership in library,
university, state, national, and international programs and initiatives.
Evidence of well developed organizational, time, and project management
skills.  Evidence of well-developed interpersonal skills, initiative,
creative energy and resourcefulness. Knowledge of information literacy
or active learning concepts, experience developing instructional
materials.  Experience in writing and editing, exhibit development,
marketing, or related external communications activities. A strong
commitment to public service.  Demonstrated excellent written and verbal
communication and problem-solving skills.   

Salary and Benefits:  $46,000 annually.  No state or local income tax.
Standard state benefits package including annual vacation and sick
leave, paid holidays, retirement plans, and health insurance options
(comprehensive major medical, dental, vision, life, and disability).
Deferred compensation and tax sheltered annuity programs also available.
