Librarian I (Instruction
and Outreach)
Responsibilities: Work under the supervision of the Head of
Instructional Services, with the Instructional Services team to plan, deliver,
and assess library instruction and services; plan and develop outreach programs
to promote library use, publicize library activities and resources; develop and
maintain a cooperative relationship with campus stakeholders, including
faculty, administrators, secondary school librarians in the region, and others;
participate in collection development and management activities by serving as a
liaison to at least one department; work regularly scheduled shifts (including
occasional evenings and weekends) at the library’s reference desk; serve
on library committees; serve as a collection development liaison with assigned
academic departments; supervise one full-time staff member.
Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited
program in library/information science by start date. Ability to work well with
others in a diverse environment, with an understanding of issues and trends in
information literacy, distance education, and library instruction. Good
presentation skills.
Desired Qualifications: Teaching experience at the high school or
college level. Training and/or experience in outreach, journalism, or
marketing and grant writing experience. Additional masters degree in a
related field.
