* Proven expertise in one or more of the following areas is desired: web site development, configuration of open source CMS packages (e.g Drupal, Plone), scripting using PHP or Python, common data analysis packages (e.g. Matlab, R, S-Plus), ecologically relevant metadata preparation (e.g. FGDC Bio, Dublin Core, ISO 19115), data manipulation SQL in a common database package (MySQL, SQL*Server, PostgreSQL), Geospatial Information Systems, use of remote sensing (satellite) data.

Candidates should be able to establish working relationships with a broad range of technical specialties and with limited interactions or prior introductions to sponsors, team members, and potential collaborators.  The successful candidate must be able to think both strategically and tactically, to sort out competing priorities, and to focus on the best combination of short- and long-term benefits.  The position requires the ability to extract system requirements from interviews with people and from written materials (such as literature articles).
