Project Archivist / Cataloger (#1263)
to work on site at an ongoing project in New Orleans, LA.  Working with both restored and undamaged materials, the Project Archivist / Cataloger oversees the remaining Katrina recovery process for archives and will create MARC records in Voyager and OCLC for all processed collections.  In addition, the incumbent in this position will design an Encoded Archival Description (EAD) implementation plan and will ensure that all existing and new MARC records conform to necessary standards for EAD cross-walking and implementation.


Archival/Cataloging Technician (#1264)
to work on site at an ongoing project in New Orleans, Louisiana. Working under the supervision of the Archivist/EAD Cataloger, the Archival/Cataloging Technician will assist in the accurate completion of MARC record fields in Voyager that will be compliant with Encoded Archival Description (EAD) standards.

We are offering a rare opportunity to manage the extensive Vessel Technical Library that collects, archives, and preserves vessel drawings, studies, technical manuals, letters, vendor information, government publications, historical records, reference documents, and other vessel -related publications for the Vessel Design department.

The Library and Archival Professional 3 provides personalized library service by anticipating, extrapolating, evaluating, and customizing information and services. Develops needs assessment tools to keep current with customers needs and interests. Functions as the content or process specialist on customer problems. Provides vessel documentation in response to requests/inquiries (e.g. Public Disclosure Requests) and performs other library, research, records management, and department -supported related tasks as needs arise.

The Library and Archival Professional 3 is responsible for administering all activities involving the descriptive cataloging and disposition of Vessel Design records in conjunction with the State Records Retention Center and the State Archives, and provides consulting services to improve library service and development of libraries in the state.
Provides focused reference services drawing upon technical paper and electronic resources from the WSDOT collection and external resources. Plans and coordinates the electronic filing, document retrieval, receipt and issuance of vessel drawings, and maintains the basic operations and upkeep of the display graphics imaging media system (OCE TCS400) and scans, produces prints and DVDs.

Successful candidate must have the following:
Master's degree in library science from an American Library Association- accredited program and certification by the State Librarian authorized through the Office of the Secretary of State or certification by professional portfolio as authorized through the Office of the Office of the Secretary of State and three years experience as a professional librarian.
* The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
* The ability to work effectively in a team environment and with diverse groups of people.
* The ability to access and maintain computerized databases.
* Knowledge of the organization of information, reference tools and strategies, and user services.

Desired Qualifications Include:
* The ability to catalogue, preserve and store vessel design engineering drawings and records.

Compensation: $43,572 - $57,240 annually, depending on qualifications.
