ASSISTANT II –COMMUNICATIONS

PURPOSE
OF CLASSIFICATION: The
purpose of this classification is to provide administrative support to the
Communications Department. Duties include, but are not limited to:
database administration and ordering for Imagination Library; parent
correspondence; processing returned books and address changes; press clipping
and archiving for all Library media; maintaining contact lists; managing and
distributing collateral material inventories (brochures, newsletters, posters,
incentives, bookmarks); compiling press and sponsor packages; attending events;
and performing other duties as assigned by Library Communication/Cultural
Administrator.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS: The following duties are normal for this
position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or
all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Administers
database and book orders for Imagination Library including change of address
for registrants. Compiles various statistical data including registration
reports and demographic information for Imagination Library. Processes returned
Imagination Library books and works with the post office to manage returned
books. Attends and assists with board meetings and Imagination Library events.
Maintains press clippings and digitizing media mentions of all Library
activities. Compiles press and sponsor packages for all Library functions and events.
Maintains master contact lists for all Communication Department functions.
Manages and distributes collateral material across the Library system
(brochures, posters, newsletters, etc.) Assists in staffing and set-up of
displays and events for Library events-including some nights and weekends.
Assists in general clerical duties for the Communication Department.
ADDITIONAL
JOB FUNCTIONS: Responds to and reports
immediately if called upon by local regional or central office supervisors, as
part of a coordinated emergency response by the Knox County Department of
Health.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM TRAINING
AND QUALIFICATIONS: High School
Diploma or GED; supplemented by college level course work or vocational
training in library operations and personal computer operations; supplemented
by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving library work,
bibliographic materials, Dewey Decimal system, general clerical work, and personal
computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and
experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for
this job.
PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS: Must be physically able to operate a variety of office
machines, tools and equipment, such as a computer, printer, copy machine, fax
machine, calculator, or telephone. Duties require the ability to exert very
moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of
stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting,
carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight
(12-20 pounds).
SCHEDULE:
Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
SALARY: $20,750.05 annually
