The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) Ottenheimer Library invites
applications for the position of Director of Technical, Req.# 722,  a
faculty appointment with rank leading to tenure. The successful candidate
will be required to meet the Library's criteria for promotion and tenure,
which include librarianship, service and scholarship/research.  The position
reports directly to the Dean of the Library and works closely with the
Directors of Public Services, Administrative Services and Archive/Special
Collections.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.	Provide administrative oversight of technical service and
information technology departments (acquisitions, cataloging, collection
development, serials and IT).
2.	Participate with Dean and other Directors in the leadership and
management of the Library.
3.	Coordinate technical services and IT activities and workflow with
other areas of the Library and University.
4.	Participate in library-wide programs such as collection development,
assessment, and strategic planning.
5.	Take a leadership role, locally and nationally, in identifying and
implementing new developments in the field through active participation in
professional organizations.
6.	Other duties as assigned.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1.	ALA-accredited MLS.
2.	Progressively responsible supervisory experience of both librarians
and paraprofessionals in an academic library.
3.	At least five years of recent experience in acquisitions,
cataloging, digital initiatives, serials or systems.
4.	Experience with integrated library systems and the application of
technology to enhance effectiveness in library operations.
5.	Extensive knowledge and understanding of best practices, current
issues and trends in technical services and library technologies.
6.	Demonstrated understanding of academic teaching and research needs.
7.	Ability to view issues from a broad library-wide perspective.
8.	Excellent interpersonal, communication, and planning skills.





PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1.      Experience with assessment of library services, strategic planning,
and project management

2.      Second advanced degree; qualifications for appointment at rank of
Associate Professor.
