Education Services Librarian

Librarians in Education Services participate in a wide variety of
instructional programs, design materials and assessment instruments for
face-to-face as well as online instruction, create instruction-related web
pages, and contribute to direct patron service.

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Head of Education Services, the
successful candidate will work with the Education Services librarians and
others in an ambitious program to expand information, visual, and technology
literacies across the disciplines. The librarian will assist in developing
and offering new and innovative ways to teach students. Librarians in
Education Services have a passion for teaching and provide stimulating
experiences for students as they learn to use library resources and software
applications. Library instruction is provided through first year courses,
course-integrated instruction across the disciplines, stand-alone workshops,
research labs, in-house faculty and staff workshops, and through online
resources and services. Instruction librarians are excited about working
with faculty members. Campus outreach is an important role. Education
Services Librarians develop assessment instruments, provide research
services, use emerging technologies, and may participate in collection
development. The successful candidate will have responsibility for
coordinating one of the first-year library instruction programs: Writing
2010, Educational Psychology 2600, the Marriott Library workshop series, or
LEAP, a first year experience program. A key quality in a successful
candidate will be the ability to thrive in a changing environment.

Required:
• ALA-accredited MLS by time of hire or equivalent academic credential
• Knowledge of the Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher
Education
• Strong interest in teaching and using innovative and engaging pedagogical
strategies
• Demonstrated effective training/teaching skills with group, class, and
one-on-one settings
• Experience with information technologies including web design, web
authoring tools, and emerging technologies such as RSS, podcasting, blogs,
wikis
• Experience or training in developing online resources such as tutorials,
point of need assistance, surveys, and guides
• Interest in using and teaching software applications
• Ability to work both independently and with others in a team environment
• Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills
• Commitment to providing excellent and innovative service
• Ability to work in a complex, changing environment
• Ability to meet University’s requirements for promotion and continuing
appointment (tenure equivalency)
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population
• Successful completion of a criminal background check

Preferred:
• Classroom teaching experience
• Knowledge of adult learning
• Knowledge of instructional design principles
• Experience in providing in-person and/or online services at a reference,
help, or information desk
• Familiarity with course management software
• Experience in an academic library

Salary: $44,000

Benefits: Excellent benefits calculated at approximately 35% of salary
including TIAA-CREF, medical, dental, generous paid sick and vacation
accrual, sabbaticals, professional development time.

Marriott Library is an ARL library with holding of nearly 3 million volumes,
including 32,000 journals in electronic and print formats, and a
considerable number of other networked electronic resources. The University,
with a student population of 27,000, is situated on a 1,500 acre campus in
Salt Lake City. The library is very near completion of a large-scale
renovation which includes a state- of-the-art Knowledge Commons and a center
to create multimedia digital content. Teaching facilities, used by campus
and library instructors, include 18 classrooms, labs and seminar rooms and a
250 seat auditorium.

Salt Lake has a population of over 1 million and offers residents a wide
variety of cultural, entertainment and recreational activities, all located
along the Wasatch Mountain Range.

*Library Assistant *

The P.H. Welshimer Memorial Library on the campus of Milligan College,
Tennessee is looking for an energetic and personable individual to assist
the Library Director 20 hours per week in data collection and presentation,
and routine office functions.

*Primary tasks and required skills:

*1. Gather and represent statistical data on Library functions, services and
resources. This task requires excellent facility with Microsoft Excel and
Word, and technical capacity to interact with library management software.

2. Work one (1) weekday evening per week on the Library Reference Desk
(6:00-10:00 p.m. shift) during the academic year (August-May).

3. Process Library invoices with Business Office; reconcile monthly expense
reports and credit card statements. Perform other routine office functions
as needed.

*Education and Experience: *Minimum high school diploma with 2 years
relevant work experience. Previous experience in an academic library
environment would be a definite asset.

*Salary: *Commensurate with experience.

*Information Resources Librarian/College Archivist *

Milligan College, a Christian liberal arts college in eastern Tennessee, is
looking for a creative and forward-thinking individual to bring energy and
professional competence to the position of *Information Resources
Librarian/College Archivist.*

The successful candidate will manage the ordering, cataloging and processing
of library materials; organize print and electronic periodicals holdings;
and oversee basic operation and development of the College Archives.

*Qualifications: *ALA accredited Master's degree; prior academic
