The Spencer Art Reference Library seeks an innovative, dynamic, collaborative, service-oriented, and knowledgeable Catalog/Reference Librarian to work with the library team providing technical and reference services in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, a comprehensive art museum. Primary responsibility is for cataloging and classifying materials in all formats; this position is regularly scheduled at the reference desk including evenings and weekends. The LEONARDO integrated library system
(currently SirsiDynix Horizon-based) is shared with the Linda Hall Library of Science, Engineering, and Technology and system migration is planned.
   Requirements include ALA-accredited Master=92s degree in library science, Bachelor's degree in art history, architectural history, or related humanities field and 1-2 years successful library experience. College Archivist
Florida Southern College seeks an enthusiastic, innovative, technologically-savvy leader for the position of College Archivist. This is a full-time, 12-month faculty appointment reporting to the Director of the Library. The 10,100-square-foot McKay Archives Center adjoining Roux Library was dedicated in February 2009. It is home to the Ruth K. and Charles T. Thrift, Jr., Florida United Methodist Heritage Center; the Governor Lawton M. Chiles, Jr., Center for Florida History; the Florida Citrus Archives; the Florida Citrus Hall of Fame; and the Florida Southern College Archives and Frank Lloyd Wright collections. The archivist will have primary responsibility for administering intellectual, physical, and digital access to these collections. Consideration of applicants will begin April 15 and continue until the position is filled. The preferred start date is June 1, 2009.

Responsibilities
The College Archivist administers the operations and services of the McKay Archives Center. This includes establishment and implementation of procedures for the acquisition, processing, and preservation of archival materials; training and co-supervision of archives personnel; point-of-use service; development of educational and outreach programs including Web-based finding aids to facilitate item retrieval, and service on library and faculty committees. The archivist will maintain superlative relationships with off-campus archives stakeholders, and will actively develop archival resources through fundraising and grants.

Qualifications
Required
. Master's degree in library / information science with archival training from an ALA-accredited program, or graduate degree in archival studies;
. Demonstrated familiarity with national standards, current theory, and practice in archival administration, including digital records management and preservation;
. Three to five years' experience in archives management;
. Ability to handle large, heavy, and fragile materials;
. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
. Work experience in an academic institution.

Preferred
. Experience using bibliographic utilities including OCLC, integrated library systems, and CONTENTdm; and a working knowledge of cataloging and metadata standards such as MARC21, XML, EAD, Dublin Core, LCSH, DACS, AACR2, and authority control;
. Successful grant writing or participation in successful grant writing activity;
. Certification through the Academy of Certified Archivists;
. Experience with the collection and preservation of born-digital materials;
. Familiarity with the history and governance of the United Methodist Church;
. Supervisory experience.

Salary
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is seeking a graduate holding a degree in library and information science, or related field, to support an ongoing major digitization initiative.  The project archivist will be responsible for the routine preparation, scanning, and rehousing of original historical institutional records.  Additionally, the project archivist will assist in arranging materials and advancing cataloguing procedures.   
   Precision in the refiling of original hardcopies and the filing of new digital copies is a must.  Successful candidates will also demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills and be highly proficient with Windows/Microsoft Office.  The project archivist will work closely with a
subject expert and a professional archivist to ensure high-quality imaging
and preservation of original paper copies and the cataloguing of digital
documents.

Experience with digital imaging, historical records and MS Windows/Office a
plus. 

The contract position pays $24/hour. 40 hours per week; contract to run
through December 2009; scheduling flexible during normal working hours, M-F.
Preferred start in early April.
