POSITION: Librarian, Western History Collections

DUTIES: Under the direction of the Curator and Assistant Curator of the Western History Collections, the Librarian is responsible for the general operation of the Library and Photographic Archives. Supervises the reading room, coordinates reference services, conducts tours of the Collections, and prepares exhibits. Supervises reproduction and digital conversion of photographs and sound recordings, and coordinates technical processing for books and images. Assists in collection development and maintains the photographic archives web page. Provides instruction using the holdings of the Collections and supervises Collections’ staff and students. This is a tenure-track position governed by the University’s policies requiring research or creative achievement and professional services as outlined in the University’s Faculty Handbook at www.ou.edu/provost/pronew/content/fhbmenu.html.

QUAL IFICATIONS:

Required: MLS from ALA accredited library school; experience managing or providing reference service for rare book and photograph collections; experience with digital conversion and reproduction of historic photographs and sound recordings; knowledge of the history of Oklahoma or the American West; familiarity with creating exhibits of rare or original materials; excellent interpersonal and communications skills; and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with library and academic faculty and campus programs and services.

Desirable: One or more years public service experience in special collections; some supervisory experience; knowledge of collection development practices in special collections; experience in teaching or bibliographic instruction; and evidence of research or creative achievement.

Millard Oakley Public Library
The Millard Oakley Public Library is seeking a dynamic person for the position of Library Director. The library serves as the county library for the residents of Overton County, Tennessee and surrounding areas. One year ago the library moved from its former building into the new one which is over 10,000 square feet in size. This position is the administrative head of the library staff, and will implement policy, supervise staff, provide community programs, and oversee the management of the facility.

Summary of Responsibilities
Communication
Manages the internal and external communications and public relations of the Library.
Leads in the communication of Library needs to the community.
Expands community outreach to provide broader channels for the exchange of information, encouraging the Library's responsiveness to the needs of the community.
Relays changes in Library services, programs, and collection to the Board.
Relays developments in Library fund-raising, expansion, and strategic planning to staff.
Provides liaison initiatives to business and school communities, positioning the Library as a partner to these two segments of Overton County.
Encourages the publication and dissemination of internal policies and procedures to staff.

Personnel & Staff
Oversees recruiting, training, performance management and retention of staff in conjunction with the Board.
Maintains an overview of Library activities that enables redeployment of staff in areas of heavy use or to provide enhanced service.
Encourages professional development among staff members and mines the talents of staff to benefit the activities of the Library.
Creates opportunities for staff to suggest and implement improvements in Library service, programs and collection within a customer-focused framework that supports the vision and mission of the Library.
Develops and implements the necessary human capital infrastructure which supports the Library's objectives and positions the Library for future expansion.

Library Services & Operations
Provides leadership with regard to creation and implementation of "best practices" in library management/administration, consulting others in the field as appropriate.
Oversees the utilization and maintenance of the Library's physical building and grounds.
Leads the day-to-day operations of the Library, including but not limited to: reference, circulation, programs, volunteer utilization, community outreach and relations, staff training and development, community database creation and maintenance.
Oversees the continual development of the Library's Web site so that it is an instrument for service delivery, information exchange and public awareness.
Supervises the utilization and maintenance of technology to deliver, monitor, and enhance Library service.
Stays abreast of demographic and usage trends to make efficient and effective use of limited collection resources.
Affiliates with the Upper Cumberland Regional Library and professional organizations and attends appropriate professional meetings and workshops.
A lifting requirement of 25 lbs. is a minimum. The position does require lifting at times.

Budget/Finance
Creates the annual Budget for the Library.
Maintains the financial integrity of the Budget's implementation and administration.
Working with the County Mayor’s Office, provides information to staff, Trustees, and appropriate outside parties regarding reconciliation of actual income and expense to budgeted amounts.

Strategic Planning/Fund-Raising
Supports and advises the Board of Trustees in its fund-raising initiatives.
Attends Board of Trustee and Board Committee meetings as deemed appropriate to inform the ongoing business of the Library.
Works with the Board of Trustees in carrying out affairs of the Library, including assistance in the formulation of policies and practices of the Board.
Acts as a conduit between Board of Trustees and staff to ensure smooth implementation of fund-raising activities within the daily operations of the Library.

resources and materials. This position is a new position added in
response to the growing library needs of online and remote students and

Responsibilities: Florida Institute of Technology, an accredited,
nationally recognized university, offers undergraduate and graduate
degrees in many fields and continues to expand its online learning
programs. Students and faculty in these programs, regardless of their
geographic location, require access to scholarly information resources.
The Document Delivery Librarian will be responsible for providing
information resources to support these programs, and will serve as a
specialist for identifying, acquiring, delivering, and tracking
information and materials required for scholarly research. The
individual will research requests and verify bibliographic information
in licensed and specialized subject databases, WorldCat, federated
search systems, government databases, and the library's online catalog;
provide access to resources and materials held locally, nationally, and
internationally by means of the OCLC WorldCat resource sharing protocol,
electronic delivery, ARIEL document delivery software, commercial
document delivery vendors, and publisher-specific delivery services;
communicate with online, remote, and on-campus constituents regarding
document delivery needs; oversee copyright and licensing requirements;
prepare statistical analyses; manage document delivery accounts and
budgets; conduct needs analyses, assess optimal delivery mechanisms, and
provide best-case cost recommendations for document delivery services.
This individual will provide expertise and leadership related to
emerging scholarly publication business models, as well as for
information discovery and delivery technologies. Other duties will
include resource assessment and evaluation, including e-book
publications, packages and licensing options; liaison responsibilities;
and other projects as assigned.

Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited MLS. Proficiency in database
and online catalog searching, including Boolean, truncation, nesting,
controlled vocabularies; knowledge of Library of Congress, SUDOC and
metadata classification systems; experience with integrated library

publication trends, copyright compliance, perpetual access, and
licensing implications; ability to work independently and as a team
