April 23, 2009 The following position is available and interested candidates are encouraged to apply: Academic Advisor -Graduate School-Pay Grade 40, - Salary DOE&Q - Full Time -Duties include but are not limited to advising students and faculty on formatting electronic theses and dissertations; assisting that theses and dissertations meet the requirements of the Graduate Council; collaborating with library staff on archiving and cataloging documents; enforcing deadlines for graduation requirements; preparing informational materials for students and faculty members; developing and conducting workshops; and assisting in organization of graduate commencement ceremonies. A bachelor's degree is required at the time of appointment; ability to communicate with and instruct a diverse population about requirements for submission of theses and dissertations; ability to experience in producing technical communications; strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Corel Word Perfect, Adobe Acrobat and ftp software to process electronic and archival copied of theses and dissertations; familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Publisher and Adobe Photoshop; excellent organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to function as part of a team. A Master's degree is desired; knowledge of and experience using LaTeX; experience in publishing of technical information, and knowledge of copyright restrictions; experience in dealing with students face-to-face and by email.
