THE POSITION:

This position performs the administrative and managerial duties involved in overseeing the Art Circle Public Library, Cumberland County.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:

.         Administration of the Art Circle Public Library, Cumberland County

.         Organizing the acquisitions, access, storage, and control of the collections

.         Developing and implementing programs and services that further the goals of library service

.         Promoting library services in the community

.         Maintaining excellent standards of public service

.         Overseeing the maintenance and safety of the library building and grounds

.         Overseeing the County Archives and Genealogy Center

.         Assisting with long range planning for library service

.         Serving on community committees and accepting public speaking requests

.         Assisting with the planning and setup of new library facility.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Masters of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent degree from an accredited graduate school, or a Masters Degree in an associated field with an emphasis in Library Science and completion of an MLS within a period of time as specified by the Board of Trustees.

 

Three years of progressively responsible public library experience or five years of experience in a service institution with comparable demands and responsibilities (i.e., staff supervision, working directly with the public, working with governing boards or bodies, etc.).

 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

·       Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including night and weekend responsibilities and activities

·       Experience in managing system wide projects

·       Ability to formulate and administer budgets

·       Ability to develop system wide policies and procedures for library services.

·       Ability to make effective public presentations
