Participates in general Orientation activities. May elect to participate in other library functions such as the teaching portions of the User Education Program and other functions as they may become available. Participation on committees, teams, task forces, and involvement in special projects is expected as deemed necessary or as are assigned by the supervisor, Director or Associate Director of the Library. Must be flexible regarding hours, which may be altered occasionally as the need arises. Position Activities Administration Assisting in the preparation of an annual report of the section activities and preparing an annual list of professional activities including, but not limited to: presentations, publications, research activity, professional association involvement, teaching efforts, posters, exhibits preparation, etc. Performing online bibliographic searches utilizing MEDLINE, DIALOG, etc.; Providing traditional reference assistance, as required; Updating loose-leaf services, residency files, vertical files, and/or similar services; Maintaining section supplies; providing coverage at the Reference Desk; compiling and maintaining section statistics; Teaching bibliographic instruction and information management courses. Research and Writing Assisting in the publication of in-house materials such as brochures, informational and/or instructional handouts, and newsletter articles; Assisting in the preparation of bibliographies of special subjects; and, Conducting research and writing for publication which is relevant to the work of the section and/or to the field of library and information science Professional Activities Providing lectures and class instruction, both curricular and extra-curricular, for the WCMC-Q students, faculty, and staff, and for affiliated institutions as required; Participating in associations and activities which support the subject areas covered by the section and the profession; Participating in instructional development; and, Participating in a structured program of CE through any of the following, but not limited to: Professional association sponsored activities; Commercial organization sponsored activities and seminars; Lectures and demonstrations; or, Formal instruction at a university or college. Position Requirements Masters degree in library and/or Information science from an accredited institution and an understanding of general library procedures; excellent oral and written communication skills; should have the ability to organize, prioritize, and be detail oriented, as well as the ability to work with a diverse clientele.
