Responsibilities: Miami University Libraries seek Education Librarian/Assistant or Associate Librarian to develop and maintain strong relationships with Teacher Education (EDT) and other academic departments per library needs; design and present instructional sessions to assist pre-service and in-service teachers in the effective use of library resources and professional materials; provide reference services to students and faculty of EDT, both in-house and electronically; develop Libraries’ collection of education materials (LC classification “L”) and maintain K-12 curriculum materials collection comprised of juvenile books, multimedia, and professional development resources; utilize technologies appropriate for daily work tasks and special projects; supervise one staff member and students. Qualifications: Require: Graduate library degree from an ALA accredited institution; strong commitment to high-quality public service; teaching skills leading to proficient instruction in information fluency; analytical skills to effectively retrieve information; flexibility to work in an environment of continual change; ability to work in teams and independently as well as with all levels of staff and diverse library customers; strong computer knowledge including skill in the use and application of multimedia software especially as applied to K-12 education; strong written and oral communication skills; initiative and ability to conceive and carry out projects; ability to meet Libraries’ requirements for promotion and continuing contract (www.lib.muohio.edu/about/larps.pdf); for appointment as Associate Librarian, require documented record based upon very strong performance in primary professional responsibilities; very strong performance in either service or scholarship/creative activity and strong performance in either service or scholarship/creative activity. Desire: Undergraduate degree in education; second Master’s degree in education; supervisory skills; experience with curriculum materials.
