	POSITION TITLE:  Acquisitions Librarian

	SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  Provides leadership for approval plans and shelf-ready programs .  Prepares fund and budget reports.  Supervises the monographic acquisitions staff.  Works with the Head of Collections and Acquisitions in all aspects of collections, especially monographic acquisitions.  Provides active communication with internal and external customers regarding all issues.  Reports to Head, Acquisitions and Collections.

	 

	 QUALIFICATIONS:

	MLS from an ALA-accredited school required

	            Knowledge of automated systems required

	            An understanding of the information needs of a research library in a

	                        digital environment.

	Experience in either monographic or serial acquisitions, or

	as a bibliographer/subject specialist.

	            Supervisory experience preferred

	            Demonstrated commitment to using electronic information technologies

	            Knowledge of book or serial trade desirable

	Excellent interpersonal skills; proven ability to work effectively with a variety of people               and groups in a decentralized and changing environment

	            Well-developed written and verbal communication skills

	            Ability to make independent judgments

	            Analysis and organizational skills

	            Self-confidence, initiative, flexibility

	            Demonstrated ability to embrace change and tolerate ambiguity.
