Title:

Electronic Resources Librarian

Salary:

$43,000; Assistant Professor, tenure track, 12 month position;
TIAA-CREF; health & life insurance, 21 days annual leave

Position Description:

MSU Libraries seeks an Electronic Resources Librarian who is responsible
for managing and negotiating subscriptions to electronic resources.
This position provides leadership and expertise in the evaluation,
selection, promotion, and accessibility of electronic resources,
especially serials.  This person will work with OpenURL linking
technologies, budgeting, and consortia agreements.  The Electronic
Resources Librarian is a member of the Information Resources Development
Team and collaborates with library staff and faculty as well as faculty
across campus.  Additional opportunities may include staff supervision,
liaison responsibilities, reference desk, and instruction duties.
Library faculty are expected to meet the research and service
requirements for promotion and tenure. We seek an innovative,
detail-oriented, dynamic individual who can provide leadership in
planning, organizing, implementing, and supporting ongoing access to
electronic resources within the Libraries and the University.  

Description Of MSU:

Montana State University, the state's land-grant institution, is located
at Bozeman in the beautiful Gallatin Valley of southwestern Montana, 90
miles north of Yellowstone National Park. The University has an
enrollment of over 12,000 students and an emphasis in agriculture,
engineering, and the sciences.  MSU has 14 doctoral programs, 40 masters
programs, and is recognized by the Carnegie Foundation as one of 96 top
tier universities with very high research activity.

optimal information access and delivery through both traditional and
electronic formats to patrons on and off-campus. The Libraries'
collections include over 730,000 volumes, 9,700 serial subscriptions,
and nearly 7,000 DVDs and videos. The Libraries is positioned to
continue to move forward in a dynamic electronic, team-oriented
environment.

Qualifications:

Required - 

*	Masters degree from an ALA (American Library Association)
accredited graduate program.
*	Demonstrated familiarity with electronic serial linking
technologies.   
*	Demonstrated analytical, organizational, time, and project
management skills.
*	Knowledge of vendors, publishers, and library consortia.  

 

Preferred - 

*	Experience managing electronic resources.
*	Experience in academic libraries.
*	Experience with subscription vendors (e.g. EBSCO, Blackwell,
etc.).
*	Familiarity with EDI and electronic resources management
technologies.
*	Experience with budgeting and serials invoicing.
*	Experience with negotiation contracts and licenses.
*	Familiarity using relational databases.

strong commitment to excellent customer service;
*	Have an understanding of the current and emerging trends and
issues in collection development, acquisitions, and academic libraries;
*	Have the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
