Global Studies & Foreign Languages Liaison Librarian (FA134z)

We invite applications for the newly designed Global Studies & Foreign 
Languages Liaison Librarian, based in Fenwick Library at George Mason 
University. The Global Studies and Foreign Languages Liaison Librarian 
is responsible for developing collections and research services that 
reflect the University's increasing emphasis on internationalizing the 
curriculum, as well as forging partnerships and connections with 
individual researchers and institutions of higher education in other 
countries. The incumbent develops a comprehensive view of the 
international focus of the university and key parts of the collection to 
support research and curricular needs, and works with other liaison 
librarians to expand holdings of foreign language materials appropriate 
to the university's academic programs in a variety of disciplines and 
formats, including public documents and data collections. The incumbent 
serves as primary contact for Foreign Language Programs and provides 
research assistance, consulting services, and instruction for faculty 
and students in those programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited MLS or ALA-recognized foreign 
equivalent; academic background in subject fields relevant to the 
position; 2 to 4+ years of academic library experience, including 
reference, instruction, and collections work; experience in developing 
working partnerships with academic departments; experience developing 
and assessing service initiatives; reading knowledge of two or more 
foreign languages taught at the university (non-Western preferred); 
knowledge of publishers and publishing practices outside the U.S. and 
other Anglophone countries; knowledge of the scholarly communication 
issues facing academic libraries; demonstrated ability to use technology 
for improved library services; excellent communication skills, both oral 
and written; ability to work effectively with diverse academic groups 
and a demonstrated commitment to responsive and quality library 
services. Preferred: Second Master's degree in a subject field relevant 
to the position.

APPOINTMENT/BENEFITS/TO APPLY: 12-month professional faculty appointment 
in the $50,000 - $58,000 salary range, depending on qualifications and
