Required:
Two years
experience in creating/implementing non-MARC metadata in a library setting, or
equivalent teaching experience. Current familiarity with a range of
metadata-related standards, including specific metadata schemes, such as Dublin
Core, EAD, METS, MODS; XML.
Desired: Knowledge of cataloging
rules and bibliographic standards and their relationship with evolving metadata
practices; experience with digital library projects
Principal
duties:
Under the
general supervision of the Director of the School of Library and Information
studies, teach LIS 875, Topics in Information Processing and Retrieval (Topic: Metadata
and Markup Languages),
during Intersession 2008. Duties include preparation of the syllabus (syllabi
from previous offerings of the course will be provided) ; preparing and grading
assignments and examinations, and consulting with students. This course is
taught entirely online, and runs for 3 weeks, from May 27 - June 15, 2008.
