Collection
Management Librarian Faculty Position (Tenure-Track)
Gainesville State
College invites applications for this twelve month Library position at its
Gainesville Campus, beginning July 1, 2008.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
- In
coordination with the Electronic Services Librarian and the library divisional
liaisons, implement and evaluate policies and procedures for the libraries’
collections which anticipate curricular needs and changes in scholarly
communication
- Participate in the Libraries
Instruction program which includes teaching for-credit research strategy
courses (RSCH1501, RSCH1502) for 5-6 credit hours per year, conducting general
library instruction workshops and serving as an academic
advisor
- Serve
on the Gainesville Campus as the library liaison to the Social Sciences and
Education & Wellness Divisions
- Provide reference and
circulation assistance at the Information Help Desk about 7 hours per
week
- Serve
on College, University System, and/or community committees
- Interact with the College's
community through professional service and involvement of
students
- Participate in appropriate
professional development activities
- ALA-accredited
MLIS
- Successful collection
development and teaching experience
- Understanding of and commitment
to the implementation of diverse instructional
techniques
- Willingness to integrate
instructional technology into the classroom. Experience in using WebCT or
other eLearning classroom management software a plus
- Commitment to client-centered
service
- High
level of competency with computers
- Demonstrated ability to
efficiently manage multiple projects and priorities
- Effective oral and written
communication skills
- Ability to establish and
maintain effective relationships
- Second
Masters Degree preferred
Salary/Rank:
35,000-42,000 (depends upon
qualifications and experience)
