The Sharlot Hall Museum Library and Archives, now located in a new state-of-the-art facility, collects, preserves, and makes available to the public historic materials relating to the Central Mountain Region of Arizona with an emphasis on Prescott, Yavapai County, and Northern Arizona. The Archives contains over 2,000,000 documents, 120,000 photographic images, 4,000 maps and a 5,000-volume research library. Our paid internship offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in a revered Arizona historical research center. The intern will be responsible for arranging and describing backlogged collections, cataloging library materials on the Yavapai Library Network, digitizing and describing images, maps, and audio files for the Arizona Memory Project (www.azmemory.lib.az.us), providing research services, and duties as assigned. Required knowledge, skills, and experience include library cataloging, digitization of historic photographs, arrangement and description of manuscript and photograph collections, creation of finding aids and inventories, and basic preservation of archival materials. The stipend for this internship is $3,000.00 to be paid in two weeks installments. The individual selected will be expected to work 36 hours per week for 10 weeks from late May to early August.
