Extended Sites Librarian

Job Summary: Responsible for coordinating a program of library public services, i.e., virtual and onsite instruction and reference assistance, to Lincoln Memorial University faculty, staff, and students at 11 extended sites.  In collaboration with Library Director serves as a liaison with non-LMU institution libraries where the contracts include access to local library services. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:  *promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large; *prepare and maintain documentation to support the strategic planning process including statistical information, periodic and other reports, Strategic Plan, Outcomes Assessment, proposed annual budget, surveys, and others as required related to off-campus library services; *develop and implement assessment programs and make recommendations to ensure improvements to these services *develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures for public services to students at extended sites; *participate on committees and events to integrate library instruction into course schedules and content; *meet with the library director to plan for library services and to review outcomes; *coordinate annual site visits with the local on-site library director, library staff, and others; *provide assistance to the library director as needed to monitor and maintain contracts and/or reciprocal agreements; *provide reference service for on-campus and extended site students and faculty using 800, email, and Web; *provides library instruction for extended sites and on-campus including teaching Information Literacy courses; *facilitate document delivery to extended site students  *participates in faculty and student library and technology workshops; keeps current on relevant professional developments, and educational and other organizations in the local community environment as related to LMU instruction and library services; *recommends appropriate electronic resources and technology in support of off-campus library services; *provides electronic reserves and/or print materials as needed for extended sites; *assists the library director in completing required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University; and *performs other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: *working knowledge of library online databases and the Web; *working knowledge of integrated library systems; *broad knowledge and strong skills with computer applications and technology used in library instruction and services; *ability to provide library instruction;*ability to market CVL library services.

 

Qualifications: *M.L.S. from an ALA accredited program; *at least two years library experience required; academic experience preferred; *additional subject knowledge or experience relevant to LMU programs of instruction desired; *broad knowledge of software or technology used to perform office, administrative and instructional functions such as spreadsheets (EXCEL) , word processing (WORD), presentation software (PowerPoint), and instructional software (WebCT or Blackboard); *web page development skills; *excellent time management skills; *willingness to work flexible schedule and to travel.
