Librarian

The librarian is responsible for providing leadership, direction and management of all activities related to Arrowmont’s Marian G. Heard Resource Center.  The resource center is non-lending library, however, a valuable source of books and periodicals used by students and faculty.  The center currently contains over 10,000 books and current periodicals.  It is open during regular school hours.  The position is part time, no more than 24 hours per week.  This position reports to the Assistant Director.

The librarian is responsible for day-to-day operations, which include:

All aspects of ordering and processing books, AV materials and magazines (including accessioning, producing catalog cards and spine labels, and covering books).  All book orders must be coordinated with the art supply store.

Tracking magazine renewals, logging in magazine arrivals and checking for any missing issues.

Assisting students and visitors with all technology related questions including copying, printing, transferring files, and wireless connectivity.

Maintaining Resource Center copier, internet computers, arranging for repairs when necessary, and maintaining appropriate supplies.

Overseeing weekly book sales during classes by posting signage, setting up, overseeing volunteers, overseeing sales, handling cash and making reports to Business Office.

Accurate accounting of all donations, acknowledgement letters and determining if books should be accessioned or sold.

Answering e-mails, filing any archival donations and working with researchers on site.

Familiarizing Artists-in-Residence and Sevier County art teachers with library procedures.

General record keeping and making periodic reports at scheduled times.

Conducting annual library book inventory by organizing volunteers, reading the shelves, checking on missing books, and following up by making changes as needed.  

Communicating with maintenance and housekeeping departments for their services when needed.

Various other duties as needed.

Qualifications:    Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task and prioritize projects.  Experience in library work is preferred.  Should be familiar with Windows XP, Macintosh, Xerox copiers, Microsoft Office Suite, and wireless connectivity.   Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
