Position available: NYC Department of Environmental Protection - Office
of Records and Archives Management

Civil Service Title: Associate Public Records Officer

Office Title: Records Management Officer

Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, with great latitude to exercise independent
judgment or action, performs records management work within the Office
of Records and Archives Management with responsibility for the
following: 

1.	Develops and enforces procedures and forms for managing DEP
inactive records in keeping with NYC Charter requirements and NYC
Department of Records policies.
2.	Provides records management guidance and support to agency
personnel; promotes outreach to DEP community.
3.	Administers vendor contract for off-site storage of inactive
records including funding and payments.
4.	Liaison with NYC Department of Records for matters concerning
records retention and disposition applications and related.
5.	Performs surveys and analysis of record holdings for DEP units
as required.
6.	Assists effort to evaluate and overhaul existing Records
Retention and Disposition Schedules.
7.	Assists with planning and preparation for new Archive facility
and possible transition of some/all inactive records to the same;
researches/recommends solutions for records tracking and storage
systems.
8.	Maintains and updates requisite paper and electronic files
(records).

Qualification Requirements:

1.      A master's degree from an accredited college in Library Science,
Archival Science, American History, Political Science or a related area,
plus two years of full-time experience in archival or library science,
one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity of incumbents
performing at a professional level; or

2.      Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However,
all candidates must have a master's degree from an accredited college
and the one year of supervisory experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

1.	Knowledge of policies and procedures used in establishing,
maintaining, and controlling a records management program.
2.	Ability to work independently and initiate projects;
self-directed.
3.	Proficiency in computer software applications including
Microsoft Excel, Word and Access; familiarity with records management
application(s) ideal.
4.	Experience using/implementing automated storage
systems/solutions.
5.	Experience working with archival records.
6.	Valid New York State driver license.

Salary: $ 47,918 for new hires, $ 55,106 for full-time employees who
have been working for NYC for at least one year.
