University Archivist - Faculty Position
Salisbury University seeks a team-oriented, experienced archivist to
process archival materials at the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for
Delmarva History and Culture, support its mission, and begin to
consolidate the historical records of the University by developing
policies, procedures, and processes to build a University Archives.

Primary Job Duties: Process, preserve, and enhance access to the
archival holdings of the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva
History and Culture; develop and implement a systematic plan to acquire,
manage, arrange, describe, preserve, and provide security for and access
to the historical and operational records of the University, as well as
to faculty collections held in the Blackwell Library; train Nabb Center
interns; recommend opportunities for coordinating policies and
procedures and achieving efficiencies across the Library and Nabb Center
operations; and serve as an expert resource for archival issues and
advances in the archival field, including digitization for faculty, Dean
of Libraries, Nabb Center staff, University offices, and local
organizations with archival needs and/or collections. The individual
functioning in this capacity will be expected to contribute to the
University's values of and commitment to student centeredness, academic
excellence, and diversity. This position reports to the Head of
Technical Services. 

Minimum Qualifications: M.L.S. or M.L.I.S from an accredited library
program with a focus on both historical records management and archival
practices or demonstrated experience with both. Supervisory experience
desired. 

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Understanding of and commitment to
nationally-accepted standards and tools for archival processing and
description, including DAC or APPM, EAD, the MARC21 format, and
appropriate thesauri and authority lists; demonstrated knowledge of
digital photography and scanning capabilities; knowledge and experience
with image editing software, HTML and/or XML; broad knowledge of
digitization standards and developments; knowledge and understanding of
current archival/museum collections management methods including
cataloging, artifact handling, and appropriate storage and preservation
techniques; basic understanding of library processes and operations;
effective written and oral communication skill; above average analytical
skills and problem-solving capabilities; must be innovative and flexible
in adapting to multiple and changing priorities with a commitment to
team work and collaboration. Skill in acquiring grants and undergraduate
work in American history (preferably colonial) desired.

This is a library faculty position on a permanent status track with
excellent benefits and salary commensurate with qualifications
