program, with 256 students enrolled currently,
received
ALA candidacy status in March 2005, with full accreditation by the
American Library Association anticipated by January
2009. Faculty are
engaged in an exciting
three-year grant process to develop a clearly
defined
set of key competencies, attributes, behaviors and skills future
LIS professionals will need and to implement a
comprehensive, integrated
and revised curriculum.
The Master of Library and Information Science program at the
College of St.
Catherine is seeking one dynamic,
creative teacher in the broad area of
information
technology to join our graduate faculty in Academic Year
2008/09. In particular, we are seeking applicants with interest in
information technologies and systems, including
information retrieval,
information architecture, network
administration and related fields and in
the breadth of
librarianship (including school library media services).
Consistent with the college's Catholic identity, its commitment to women,
diversity and social justice, preference will be given
to candidates who
manifest these themes in their
teaching, research and service. The College
places
strong emphasis on teaching; therefore, individuals demonstrating
potential for excellence in teaching and ability to
relate their research
to their teaching are especially
invited to apply.
Required qualifications:
ALA-accredited
MLS (or international equivalent), doctorate in
librarianship or related field in hand at the time of appointment,
college-
level teaching experience, publications,
participation in professional
organizations.
Desired qualifications:
Evidence
of a broad perspective in the field of librarianship, information,
and information services; practical library experience,
especially in
special libraries or in school library
media services.
Essential position responsibilities: Teach six courses per year
at the
master’s level, including at least one of the
core courses; engage in
research and in public
dissemination of research findings; contribute to
the
development of the program; advise students; engage in the broad
library community.
