POSITION TITLE: Subject & Instruction Librarian – Engineering

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Subject & Instruction Librarian- Engineering will develop, implement, and deliver a wide range of innovative programs for both undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Engineering. Specific responsibilities include designing user education initiatives to assist Engineering students in further developing their information discovery and analysis skills; integrating library resources into academic courses within the School of Engineering; creating and implementing a reference service model that meets the unique demands of Engineering faculty and students; and assisting the Chemistry/Engineering Librarian with collection development duties. The Subject & Instruction Librarian for Engineering will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Engineering faculty and students and will work collaboratively with other librarians on library-wide initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MLS from an ALA accredited library school.
Undergraduate degree in one of two areas a) engineering, biological or physical sciences or b) education or educational instructional technologies.
An undergraduate degree in another area may be considered with demonstrated experience serving a similar user population.
Library experience in a science or engineering discipline and teaching/instruction experience incorporating state-of-the-art technologies.
Strong teaching, interpersonal, and communication skills
Strong technology skills including web page development and Web 2.0 technologies
Ability to utilize state-of-the-art technologies to enhance course instruction
Strong commitment to proactive library services and instruction
Ability to initiate, plan, and implement projects both independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to deal with a rapidly changing environment.
