Duties: Processes orders for reproduction of Research Center materials. Schedules orders by entering order data into a tracking system. Tracks status of order to ensure completion within the designated time. Prepares work orders for the Photographer by researching and retrieving the appropriate items for reproduction, selecting the appropriate format according to patrons request and availability of negatives. Reviews order form for completeness and accuracey. Reviews completed reproductions to ensure order is accurate and creates identification and credit information for images and packages for delivery. Creates invoices for finished materials and tracks to ensure payment in a timly manner. Provides public reference and research assistance to inquires from a wide variety of organizations and citizens and provides concise and accurate interpretations and analysis of comlex historical events based on reference interviews with patrons. Supervises the use of valuable photograph collectio ns in the public reference area and asssists researchers in devising a plan for conduction photograph research. Performs data entry of statistical information from the patron information forms and order forms to generate reproduction statistical reports for the program manager, files all reference corresponsdence, maintains correspondence files for the Photograph Archives and acts as administrative support for the program. Maintains equipment and supplies for the reference room, trouble shoots office machines and places service calls for maintenance and repair, orders supplies and preservation materials for the program. Performs records management fuctions for the program assuring proper retention of Photograph Archives files. Preserves photograph images by filing them in archival quality sleeves, folders and boxes; transcribes identifications and types negative sleeves; makes inventory lists of images in the collections and photocopies images or collections of images for th e reference notebooks to reduce the handeling of original items. Competencies: *Working knowledge of general library / archives practices and procedures, particularly regarding reference, research, and patron assistance. *Sound knowledge and experience with database software, computer word processing programs, Internet searching techniques, and e-mail programs. *Knowledge of computer software for scanning photographs and other graphic materials. *Basic knowledge of library reference or historical research methods and tools, and the ability to apply them to diverse inquiries. *General knowledge of American history. *Ability to identify photographic processes and formats. Education/Experience: 2 year job-related college or vocational training in library science, archives, history or records management. General office/clerical experience. Experience operating microfilm reader-printers, typewriters, photocopy mancines and/or scanners. Training and experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office Exel, Microsoft Office Access and Adobe Photoshop preferred. Neat and legible handwriting is required. 3 to 4 years of job-related work experience.
