Library Associates
Companies (LAC) is seeking a Research
Librarian with a background in Nursing
and/or Health Sciences for an Association of registered Nurses located in
Denver, Colorado. The candidate will serve as a point of contact for
research and information support to members of the Association, departments
within the Association, the Board of Directors, Committees, Task Forces and
non-members. Membership in the Association covers all 50 states and around
the world. This is a full-time position in a non-smoking office
environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors Nursing Practice &
Education departments information needs and research priorities and
anticipates and tracks requirements for information products and
services.
- Contributes to departmental long
range information management and resource plans.
- Provides end-user guidance and
training of search techniques ands strategies and assistance in selection and
use of resources.
- Responds to reference and research
requests and performs literature for Association staff, members and
non-members.
- Prepares all staff and committee
literature searches using the RefWorks application, following the agreed-upon
Best Practices.
- Provides instruction in optimal
use of RefWorks databases.
- Creates alerts on key topics
including Recommended Practices topics, Clinical Issues topics, FAQs and PNDA
topics.
- Creates and maintains updated
RefWorks databases on these topics. Provides extensive quality filtering of
the literature to support evidence-based practice.
- Attends departmental meetings and
planning sessions to recommend strategies, resources and procedures and
develop action plans to meet goals and objectives.
- Instructs members in use of the
Association's online journal and Medline, including literature searching
techniques.
- Assists management with collection
development and website contributions.
- Compiles detailed statistical and
narrative monthly reports to document services.
- Serves as backup for Library
Manager as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Master of Library Science (MLS)
required, with demonstrated expertise in use of bibliographic research
tools.
- RN preferred.
- Health Sciences library experience
highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to precisely
identify information needs and to identify resources and formulate strategies
to meet those needs.
- Ability to impart resource
selection and database searching skills to end users, formally and informally,
in groups or one-on-one.
- Familiarity with OVID and other
online database searching.
- Familiarity with RefWorks
application.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
applications.
- Ability to work under pressure and
meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and
teaching skills.
- Service oriented and ability to
embrace change.
- Ability to travel as needed to
support departmental and association functions.
