POSITION TITLE:

Metadata and Cataloging Librarian/#00026079 

DEPARTMENT:

North Dakota State University Library (Fargo, North Dakota)

SALARY:

$38,000+/year

DESCRIPTION:

Perform original and complex copy cataloging of materials in various
formats, for all collections. Participate in maintaining the quality and
consistency of the library's bibliographic database. Provide expertise
and leadership relating to the metadata for digital collections. Overall
responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the NDSU Library
bibliographic database. Manage the cataloging department. Supervise
cataloging department staff. Participate and engage in professional
development activities and scholarly activities. Participate in general
librarian duties. 

MINIMUM  
QUALIFICATIONS:

*	Master's degree in library and information science or related
field 
*	Knowledge of current and emerging metadata and cataloging
standards 
*	Experience with relational databases and software applications
supporting the modern digital library 
*	Capable of working successfully in a changing, dynamic and
production-oriented environment 
*	Customer service oriented and willing to provide user-centered
cataloging services 
*	Effective oral and written communication 
*	Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritize
work appropriately 
*	Demonstrated ability to perform excessively detail oriented and
highly repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy 
*	Must have good problem solving skills and flexibility by
exercising sound judgment in dealing with a variety of issues, sometimes
in ambiguous circumstances 

PREFERRED 
QUALIFICATIONS:

*	Two years relevant experience 
*	Experience with training, developing and supervising staff 
*	Working knowledge of German
