Archivist Position - Deadline Extended
PROJECT
ARCHIVIST: The Jewish Museum of Maryland, located in
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Project Archivist will be responsible for
arranging and describing a collection estimated to be 300-400 photographs and
5-8 linear feet of files, and producing a complete finding aid for the
collection. In addition, the Project Archivist will need to create a digital
copy of the collection. The Project Archivist will work under the general supervision
of both the Museum Archivist/Librarian and Photo Archivist.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of archival
collections and principles of arrangement and description with a completed
finding aid. A Masters degree in library science or equivalent experience is
required. Experience with digitization techniques and equipment strongly
preferred. Candidate must be organized and able to work accurately as well as
fully computer literate and experienced with MS office applications. Candidate
must also have good writing and verbal skills. Reading knowledge of German is
preferred.
DEADLINE: Consideration
will be given to applications received by December
16, 2007. Interviews will be conducted the week of December 17, 2007.
