The Lake County Discovery Museum’s Collections Assistant is a
one-year temporary position working within the Collections and Archives
division of the Lake County Discovery Museum.  The position will focus
on work in the archival and objects collections including assisting
staff with research, exhibit preparation, storage refinement, writing a
postcard-related research article for a Museum publication, and other
ongoing collections tasks.  The position includes occasional evening and
weekend work with large-scale public events.   Discounted temporary
employee housing is available onsite.

The Lake County Discovery Museum is a department of the Lake County
Forest Preserves, located in the suburbs north of Chicago.  Museum
exhibits focus primarily on Lake County and postcard history using its
collections which include the Lake County History Archives, the Curt
Teich Postcard Archives, and the artifact collection. The Museum’s
special exhibitions explore a variety of subjects, including those
related to popular culture.    

Qualified applicants should have experience working in an archival or
museum setting using databases and word processing.   A bachelor’s
degree in history, museum studies, public history, or related field is
required. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Must possess valid driver’s license.
