Digital Services Librarian (Assistant Professor)

The University Libraries at Seton Hall University, a major Catholic 
doctoral institution, invite applications for the position of Digital 
Services Librarian (Assistant Professor).
The person in this position will collaborate with library faculty and
the 
dean's office in developing and producing digital projects, in providing

information services for students taking Web-based courses, and in the 
development of other Web-based applications. The Digital Services 
Librarian will research, evaluate, test and recommend methods,
standards, 
and software used in the creation of digital collections and their 
preservation; maintain best practice documentation for digital efforts; 
provide expertise to others in the creation of digital collections; and 
participate in grant-writing and training initiatives.  The Digital 
Services Librarian will collaborate with library faculty in providing 
reference service to distance education students and in developing 
tutorials and other Web-based services for off-campus and on-campus 
students. The person in this position will be expected to teach some 
information literacy courses and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Demonstrated digital project management skills;

Working knowledge of digital library technologies, standards, issues,
and 
trends; Ability to interact effectively with a broad range of employees 
within the Library, the University and in collaborative initiatives with

other institutions; Excellent written and oral communication skills; MLS

from an ALA-accredited program; A second master's degree or doctorate is

required for tenure; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; 
Demonstrated ability to work in a collegial environment

Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of digital conversion of 
materials; Working knowledge of relevant digital library; Experience
with 
MARC and Dublin Core; Comprehension of relevant Internet delivery 
technologies for digital content; Successful grant-writing activity.

Librarians at Seton Hall have faculty status and rank with 12 month 
appointments with 20 vacation days.  Schedule is 35 hours weekly.
Salary 
and benefits are competitive. Positions are subject to budgetary
approval.
