Notice of Vacancy POSITION: Reference Librarian LOCATION: Tazewell County Public Library, Tazewell, VA DESCRIPTION: Tazewell County Public Library, including the main library and two branches, serves a population of 44,000 in the scenic mountains of southwest Virginia, two hours from Roanoke, VA and Johnson City, TN. The library is a member of Holston Associated Libraries, Inc., a multi-type consortium sharing an Innovative Interfaces automation system (www.hal.org). Tazewell County Public Library seeks a professional committed to quality and customer service to manage all aspects of reference service systemwide. The position is responsible for reference service planning, participation in collection development, management and promotion of electronic reference resources, management of local history and genealogy collection, website development, data collection and analysis, supervision of ILL, staff and patron training. Some evening and weekend hours required. Reports to library director. Job description available upon request. The position is open 1 January 2008. REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited MLS degree, Virginia Professional Librarian's Certificate within 6 months of hire, strong Internet and computer skills, knowledge of/interest in local history and genealogy. Ability to work collaboratively. High level of initiative and ability to work independently. Schedule includes some evenings, weekends. SALARY: Hiring range: $30,000 – 32,500.
